Is AI profitable? Let's ask AI.

HELLO ARTIFICIAL INTELIGENCE!

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN ON INVESTMENT?

AI technology is somewhat ambiguous outside of the walls of Big Tech companies and researchers, even somewhat elusive to finding businesses capable of utilizing, adopting, and thriving. Big Tech has jumped into the deep end to get an early piece of the AI pie, with the expectation to receive a big return on the investment. Can the economy adjust to the new advancements coming ahead? I don't know, but it depends on the bottom line, profit, for any venture to shake up the markets. Investment in Big Tech may hinge on their ability to be on top of this land grab in the market place. There will be winner(s) and losers.

NOTE: After this brief rant, you can read the response to the question "is AI profitable", from each 5 chatbots. Major points support the idea that AI will improve efficiency and productivity, however, does the pattern lead us to the truth or is AI just major hype?

Will AI lead the way? To use the theory of "creative destruction" play out? Essentially change happens over time. The process of "creative destruction" essentially takes market cycles and adds the element of economic progress over time. When conditions change businesses change with it or else they are obsolete. In the long run progress will improve products and tech like AI should be no exception.

Of course Big Tech face major obstacles, which cannot be overlooked. I am skeptical government will support an AI revolution without regulation, probably in the the guise of erring on the side of precaution. Government may impose barriers to trade information or even crowd out investment through greater government spending. Economically there are many ways to do this, for instance, protecting the country from the fear of resources falling into the wrong hands (e.g. national security) or preserving jobs that would be eliminated (e.g. job creation v. job loss). These scenarios are drastic, but it's possible this experiment may fizzle out when bumping heads with politicians.

What is purported to be the next step in tech, may also impact the bottom line for small businesses. There are still major concerns in my mind, namely if small business can ride on the coattails of this technology, or if it will be too difficult to jump on the bandwagon? Firms may miss the boat simply because prices of tech will be out of their grasp. The greatest of these concerns are economical. Is there profit? Does bearing the cost of research and data quality when implementing AI affect the production process such that it meets the bottom line. Gauging efficiency will also require lots of change to production methods.

Today, I took responses from popular AI Chatbots (Gemini, Copilot, Aria, ChatGPT, and ChatSonic), regarding this question "is ai profitable". I am not affiliated with any bot, but I have ready access to these.

While some chatbots exude confidence, others are a little more pragmatic about the conclusions. The chatbots are wordy, so if you don't want to read ahead, then I encourage you to try it out for yourself.

GEMINI
